Falling into a Routine

With school back in session and fall quickly approaching it is important to establish a routine to set yourself up for success. Creating a routine is particularly important when trying to remain successful in the areas of weight loss and weight management. Weight loss and weight management can often seem overwhelming but by creating a routine you can pare down the number of decisions that need to be made on a daily basis. By creating this routine you’re not only eliminating some daily stress but also providing yourself with a template to help your day run a bit smoother. Remember consistency is key! So start today and create a routine that works for you with these simple steps: 1. Brain Dump – Jot down all the things you know you need to accomplish in a day to achieve weight loss success 2. Create a Timetable – Assess your energy levels. Think about all the things you wrote down and when you can realistically fit them in to you day. 3. Account for the Unexpected – Your schedule may not always fit and that’s OK; the point is to harness your most productive times to use for your most challenging tasks, and save the more mundane tasks for you least productive times. 4. Put it all Together – Match up your activities with particular times. Start with anything that has to be done at a certain time each day. Then add in tasks based on when you think it makes the most sense to tackle them. 5. Take it for a Test Drive – Try out your new routine and adjust what is not working on a case-by- case basis.
